Cleaning Eudragit L30 D-55 Residues Using Hard Water

We recently had a client who experienced issues cleaning with the enteric polymer coating Eudragit® L30 D-55 from their pharmaceutical coating pan. This particular coating contains the pigments titanium dioxide and red iron dioxide. Our cleaning experts completed a cleaning study in the lab with our detergent formulated specifically to clean this polymer. This detergent cleaned with great results in the lab and was recommended as a replacement for the client's current detergent. Unfortunately, when the client completed their trial with this detergent, it failed. After some back and forth, it was determined that the client only had access to hard water for their cleaning process. This is problematic for our formulated detergent.  So, we went back to the lab to create a solution that works for this enteric polymer with hard water.

In the video below, you can follow our journey as we formulate a custom detergent from the lab all the way through testing on our own production-sized coating equipment to find an optimized solution for our customer.
